| Observation | What it supports | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| A person appears in Linn County Oregon’s current roster. | Current custody in that facility at the time the roster was checked. | A historical list of DUI arrests, a final DUI charge, or a conviction. |
| A person appears in Linn County Iowa Who’s in Jail. | Current inmate status at the Linn County Correctional Center. | That the underlying incident occurred in Linn County, or that the case ended in conviction. |
| No person appears on a current roster. | No current roster match under the search/check performed. | That no past arrest, court case, or other custody record exists. |
Linn County Sheriff states that after Oregon’s 2021 House Bill 3273, it stopped publishing booking photos for adults in custody effective January 1, 2022. The roster still supplies current-custody information. Do not turn “no mugshot shown” into a finding that there was no booking.
Record the state, agency, date checked, person name as displayed and any booking/case identifier. Avoid carrying only a name into the next search.
For Iowa, the Iowa Judicial Branch directs public charge searches to Iowa Courts Online. For Oregon, use the official Oregon court-record search and Linn Circuit Court record process.
Linn County Circuit Court accepts copy requests for case records and hearing audio. The form asks for the case number and exact documents or hearing dates; if you cannot find the number, the court says to enter “unknown.”
An arrest or jail entry records a custody event; a charge is an allegation; a court disposition records what happened in the case. Keep those stages separate instead of labeling every custody hit a DUI conviction.
